Working area
I develop and apply computational tools for pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic, and disease progression analysis through modeling and simulation, aiming to characterize the dose-exposure-clinical response relationship. These tools include population pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic models (pharmacometrics), physiologically-based pharmacokinetic models (PBPK), and quantitative systems pharmacology models (QSP). In particular, I work on translational aspects, pursuing various objectives: individualized pharmacotherapy (model-informed precision dosing), drug development with special emphasis on interchangeable products (bioequivalence) and innovative formulations through in vitro – in silico – in vivo correlations, and basic clinical pharmacology. The different research lines are carried out with interdisciplinary teams and include relationships with the clinical sector (dose optimization and diagnosis), production sector (development of pharmaceutical products with proven biopharmaceutical quality), and regulatory sector (drug evaluation).
