Research interests
My interest is oriented in three main directions: two with an experimental focus and one with a critical-reflective, epistemological orientation.
The first line focuses on studying the acute and chronic effects of different physical exercise protocols and nutritional interventions on the behavior of morphological and physiological variables.
The second line lies in the field of physical fitness assessment and performance diagnostics. The aim is to develop and refine practical evaluation tools and procedures to assess physical fitness and athletic performance components properly.
The third line, with an epistemological orientation, is dedicated to critically analyzing issues I consider essential in the production of knowledge about the relationships between physical exercise and health, physical fitness and health, and nutrition and health—issues that, in my view, are not being addressed with the depth and care the complexity of these topics demands.
Working area
My research focuses on the biological aspects of physical exercise, physical fitness, and nutrition in relation to health and sports performance. My early work was mostly centered on the field of performance (sports training); currently, my interest has expanded towards the area of health.
