Regional applications:
(i) The recycled high-grade metamorphic terranes of the Dom Feliciano Belt
(ii) The Pavas Block and its Archean-Paleoproterozoic heritage
Working area
The kinematic and petrological characterization of the geological record in regions composed of high-grade metamorphic rocks is of primary importance in establishing the tectonic evolution of past orogens. Current orogenic theory applied to Precambrian metamorphic terrains helps to model paleogeographic scenarios, allowing a chrono-geodynamic understanding of the geological processes that occurred based on the precepts of Plate Tectonics. This deductive way of thinking finds a logical interrelationship between all rock types, all evidence of geological processes and their evolution through time.
