Antimicrobial resistance in clinically relevant Gram-negative rods, and within the “One Health” framework: phenotypic, molecular, and genomic characterization, molecular epidemiology, evaluation of therapeutic options.
Working area
My work focuses on studying mechanisms of resistance to critical antibiotics in Gram-negative rods, including their detection and diagnosis, the analysis of genetic platforms and mobile genetic elements, and the investigation of epidemic clones and outbreaks in healthcare institutions. I combine microbiology and genomics approaches, participating in the implementation and application of next-generation sequencing (WGS) for surveillance and characterization of pathogens in both human and animal health in my institution. In addition, I have conducted studies on the in vitro efficacy of antibiotic combinations against carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales, generating evidence relevant to clinical practice and epidemiological surveillance.
