Special Donations System

Special donations are a tax regime designed to promote initiatives of social interest in Uruguay. They allow companies that are taxpayers of the Corporate Income Tax (IRIC, Impuesto a las Rentas de la Industria y el Comercio), Agricultural Activities Tax (IMAGRO, Impuesto a las Actividades Agropecuarias), Agricultural Income Tax (IRA, Impuesto a las Rentas Agropecuarias), and Wealth Tax (Impuesto al Patrimonio) to obtain significant tax benefits when making donations to certain entities and projects.

Its objective is to encourage support from the private sector in various areas, including education. In exchange for the donation, companies can recover a significant portion of the amount donated through tax benefits.

It is within this framework, and under the protection of Articles 593 and 596 of Law 16.736, that University Foundations and Faculties of the University of the Republic are authorized to receive these donations from companies and thus channel them to reach academic, educational, or research initiatives.

Every year, at FUNDACIBA, we receive applications to manage these special donations, thus promoting diverse proposals that allow us to connect different projects with the necessary funding.

Application for the Special Donations System


1. Interested individuals must write a project considering the fields required to complete the following form: FORM *Pleas consult the application closing date

2. Once the project is written and the form is completed, the following SAMPLE LETTER addressed to the Foundation's Administrative Council must be filled out, and both documents must be sent to administracionfundaciba@pedeciba.edu.uy to process their endorsement.

3. Projects endorsed by FUNDACIBA's Administrative Council are submitted to the Ministry of Economy and Finance for review (4 to 5 months from the application closing date) and subsequent resolution.

After the project is approved, FUNDACIBA will contact the beneficiaries and inform them of the next steps.
