ORADOR: Alessandro Codello
TÍTULO: Venice Long Data
RESUMEN: Venice Long Data is an interdisciplinary research project that investigates historical archives from an integrated point of view - relying, in the Venetian context, on the historical database offered by the State Archive of Venice (ASVe) - and using techniques from Big Data to Complex Networks. The approach aims to study history from a MACRO perspective, complementary to the MICRO perspective usually conducted, always starting from the original sources and using the most modern techniques available to deal with the transcription and analysis of historical sources. The dual scope is to obtain a historical meta-database representing a fully searchable interconnected digital version of the ASVe and, above all, to create the basis for a quantitative study of the history of Venice, Europe and the Mediterranean.
MINI-BIO: Alessandro Codello is a Researcher in Theoretical Physics at Ca' Foscari University of Venice (Italy) and Assistant Professor at the University UDELAR in Montevideo (Uruguay). His main scientific activity has spanned many fields, from Statistical Physics to Quantum Gravity, and he is author of more than 50 publications. Alessandro received his Ph.D. from the Johannes Gutenberg Universität in Mainz (Germany), after which he been a post-doc at the Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati (SISSA) in Trieste (Italy) and at the Centre for Cosmology and Particle Physics Phenomenology (CP3-Origins) in Odense (Denmark). He has been visiting researcher at the University of Bologna, the University of Parma and INAF of Catania; and short term visitor in many universities in Europe, America and Asia. He has been recipient of ACRI Young Investigator Training Program 2018 and has been visiting scholar at SUSTECH University in Shenzhen (China) during 2019.
