Research interests
My research focuses on Model-Driven Engineering (MDE), which prioritizes modeling as the main activity of a software system's life cycle. In particular, I study the application of MDE to support different aspects of Business Process Management (BPM) and identify business process models as a key aspect to reduce the gap between business experts and IT people who build and maintain an organization's support systems.
I work with models with a prescriptive purpose (e.g., in the modeling of business process families that allow prescribing process variants that are then automatically derived) as well as descriptive (e.g., in the application of Process Mining to analyze runtime events of information systems to discover patterns in heterogeneous contexts) and predictive (e.g., in the prediction of future activities in process models).
