Research interests

- Histopathological and immunohistochemical characterization of breast and prostate tumors in patients from Paysandú: comparison with national and international profiles.

- Combined application of conventional histological methods aimed at the simultaneous identification of biological structures.

- Cellular and histological study of the regulation of local translation in peripheral axons (direct collaboration with the Genomics Department of the IIBCE, led by Dr. José Sotelo Silveira).

- Construction of the second stochastic super-resolution microscope in Uruguay and the first in the region.

- Construction of an imaging center based on the installation of locally built, custom-designed advanced fluorescence microscopy equipment tailored to the region's scientific needs, including super-resolution, confocal, and light sheet microscopy.

Working area

My area of ​​work is Cellular and Molecular Biology in cancer histopathology models, the regulation of local translation in peripheral axons (collaboration with Dr. Sotelo Silveira from IIBCE) and the use of high and super resolution microscopy as key tools for understanding these processes.
